Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2015 - December

Hi and Happy Holidays and all that! This month I made my tag with PLENTY of time left - 8 hours left in the month (and the year, for that matter)! HA!

I do not own the greenery punches, so I cut 2 of the laurel wreaths from the Sizzix Alterations Regal Crest die with watercolor paper that I colored with Distress Stain in Pine Needles and Mowed Lawn. I also used the bow from the Sizzix Alterations Packages and Bows die.

This tag came together really easy and it was fun to make. I really love the look of the spray stain-stenciled background on the burlap. Thanks to Tim, as always, for the inspiration!

Peace.

Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2015 - November

Hello! Yes, it is the very last day of November and I have just finished my November tag. This has to be a new record for me, both in terms of waiting until the last moment and completeing a tag in a really short period of time! Wowza. If you would like to see the inspiration behind the perspiration, you are encouraged to look here: http://timholtz.com/12-tags-of-2015-november/

At any rate, without further ado, here is my version.

Peace.

Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2015 - October

Hi and welcome. This month, Tim Holtz highlighted his new Zombie die and created a cute and scary tag. The focus for this month is on creating dimension and using the tried-and-true "wrinkle-free distress" technique.

Since I do not have the Zombie die, I created a Halloween scene using 5 different Sizzix dies: Crescent Moon and Stars, Holly Branch, Mini Acorn & Pumpkin, Mini Cat & Raven, and Pumpkins #2.

Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2015 - September

Hello. The tag for September 2015 is quite nice. It was great fun to make and contains many interesting layers. If I had seen it without the instructions, I would have probably thought "How did he do THAT?" I amazed myself when it was all done. Hence, the sentiment that I chose: "Amaze Yourself." These are good words to ponder every now and then, I suppose.

Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2015 - August

Lately I find myself heading closer and closer to the world of mixed media techniques and art journaling. So, this month's Tim Tag was just perfect timing for me. I enjoyed the process of making this tag from start to finish. Supplies used: Layered Bee and Mixed Media dies (Sizzix), Distress Inks, Distress Stains, Distress Markers, Archival ink, Glue n Seal, Perfect Pearls spray (Ranger), various stamps (Stampers Anonymous), gesso,  manila tag, patterned paper, cardstock, watercolor paper.

Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2015 - July

Hi there. This month's Tim Holtz tag was so much fun to make! I recently bought some Micro-Glaze and was wanting to give it a whirl. It's awesome! It's a waxy substance that you rub over your work and it acts as a seal and resist to protect it. My design does not stray from Tim's design except for some slight modifications to the embellishments. I really love the way it turned out!

Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2015 - June

It's almost summer, y'all! My version of this month's Tim Tag has a bright cheery summerlike feel. I couldn't wait to use my new Twisted Citron distress ink, and I gotta say, I love this color! Other colors used: Cracked Pistachio, Squeezed Lemonade, and Picked Raspberry.  I also used Tim's Sizzix "Fresh Brewed" Bigz die and his Harlequin layering stencil for this project.

I don't really know if Starbucks has a drink that looks anywhere near this color of green, but if they don't, they should.

Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2015 - May

Hi again! This month's Tim Holtz tag is very special to me, because I have chosen to remember the day the stars aligned and I was blessed to meet Tim and Mario in our favorite place - Disneyland!! They were extremely gracious to take a few minutes from their day to spend with little old me. In case you are wondering, THEY ARE BOTH JUST THE NICEST GUYS EVER!

Anyway, here is my homage to them and that day that I will never forget. (Thanks again, Tim and Mario. Y'all rock!) I hope you like my tag. Feel free to leave a comment! Peace.

Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2015 - April

Howdy! Today, I am proud to show you my Tim Holtz-inspired tag for April 2015. The reason I am proud is that Tim has finally convinced me to turn on my sewing machine and use it! I have not been on speaking terms with this evil monster for ages. I was working on a project (a couple of years ago!) and just could not get the stitching to work out right and finally gave up. The machine (through no fault of its own, as we have now discovered) has been sitting under my desk ever since. So today, after some serious soul searching, I thought it was time to bury the hatchet and give it another go. After DH and I worked on it for awhile, we discovered that I was not threading the machine correctly. Oh bother! Once this minor issue was corrected, I practiced on a couple of scrap paper things, and then, lo and behold, SEWED ON MY TAG!!!! I felt like Tim must have felt on a video I saw of him at CHA earlier this year. He was challenged with demoing a tag without using ANY BROWN INK. Tim said: "Not gonna lie. I'm breaking a sweat!" Ha!

As always, if you would like to see Tim's tutorial for this month, click here and be amazed.

So now that you know the back story, here is my tag. I hope you like it! Peace.

Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2015 - March

Greetings. Here is my Tim Tag for March. I always enjoy following Tim's tutorial every month. I have succeeded in making and posting my creations consistently for over a year now. (*gives herself a pat on the back*) It's a great routine and gives me a little incentive and inspiration. I have the freedom to either replicate his design or think outside the box. I think it's cool either way! And I learn something new just about every month. This month, I used embossing powder with Ranger's Archival ink. I never would have thought archival ink would work for embossing, so there you go. If you are interested, you can see Tim's tutorial here: http://timholtz.com/12-tags-of-2015-march/. That's it for now. I think I'll go create something else now. Bye! Peace.

Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2015 - February

Hi again. This month's Tim Tag is really fun! I love his design (well, that goes without saying!) and I had fun going through my stuff to see what I could come up with for mine. He has been doing a lot of sewing machine stiching lately and every time I see it, I think, "This is the month I will pull out my sewing machine and follow along." Well, it didn't happen. Again. I am not an experienced seamstress and it causes me some amount of stress to think of sewing on my tags. I know - it's weird. One of these days...

If you would like to see Tim's tutorial, click here: http://timholtz.com/12-tags-of-2015-february/

Anyway, I am happy to present my February 2015 tag. I used some new (to me) materials on it, including thin gauge wire, cork, and a real postage stamp. I cut lots of stamps off of my envelopes when I find interesting ones, and need to start incorporating them into my work.
I hope you like it and maybe find some inspiration as well. Enjoy! Peace.

Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2015 - January

Hello 2015! It has been a crazy month! We got to visit my Happy Place earlier this month - Disneyland! Man, I love being there. I am so fortunate that we get to visit fairly often. It is truly my second home! Then about three days after we returned home, I developed an annoying cold that wiped me out for almost two weeks. That was a bummer, to say the least. So, once I recovered from that, I had just a few days to catch up on so many things, which included my Tim tag. It was loads of fun to create this tag, especially since I decided to create my own chit chat stickers! I had fun deciding on the words that are special to me. Thanks to Tim for the inspiration, as always. If you would like to see the tutorial for my tag, you can click here: http://timholtz.com/12-tags-of-2015-january/. Thank you so much for stopping by and feel free to leave me a comment. I would love that. Peace.
